Timothy James Kay is an award-winning Writer, Director, Producer and Editor living and working in Los Angeles whose work examines the pain and triumph of human transformation.
Drawing from his time as a documentary filmmaker, Timothy’s narrative work is heavily influenced by the Cinema Verite style. He embraces spontaneous discoveries on set and intentionally leaves space in his production for these moments. Just as important to Tim as allowing space for discovery on set is allowing space for discovery in the edit. In addition to writing, producing, directing, and editing, Timothy also serves as Cinematographer and Camera Operator for numerous of his films - short, feature, and documentary.
While Tim’s creative work has reached viral status online and been aired on networks like ESPN, Food Network, and ABC Family, his filmography has garnered acceptance and recognition from prestigious festivals around the world including WorldFest Houston and The Cannes Film Festival.
Tim earned his B.A. in Cinema/Television from Regent University where his work received both Best Director of the Year and Best Film of the Year awards.
Tim’s debut feature, Mire (2018) is available on Amazon Prime. He is currently developing his second feature.
